Changing the basics
- Log into your MediaWiki as "Admin" or "Sysop". If you're not sure what this means, see below.
- Go to: .../index.php?title=MediaWiki:Sidebar - for example http://www.example.com wiki/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Sidebar
- You will see the content of the sidebar, or navigation links, on a Wiki page as a list with a format of Link|name like this:
The source tags allow the display of preformatted code modules but in addition they add coloring according to the code language settings. Like the pre tags and the poem tags, they preserve white space, that is, they depict the code module exactly as it was typed. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:SyntaxHighlight_GeSHi
Extension:New User Email Notification
The New User Email Notification extension sends a customisable email to specified recipients when a new user account is created. The extension can send to multiple users, and additional email addresses, and is useful for keeping track of account creation on a small wiki. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:New_User_Email_Notification
Securing your WIKI for authenticated users only.
Add these settings to your LocalSettings.php file :
# Disallows editing by users. $wgGroupPermissions['*' ]['edit'] = false; # Allows editing by those with confirmed e-mails. $wgGroupPermissions['emailconfirmed']['edit'] = true;
That should work to force edits to only be allowed by logged in users with a confirmed e-mail.
Customizing address bar icon
$wgFavicon = "$wgScriptPath/skins/common/images/favicon.ico";
