Mount (ISO, NTFS and cifs)

  • On openSUSE, first do:
    • Check packages: In Yast --> Software management --> use the search term "cifs" and check/install cifs-mount & pam-cifs. Check search also on "samba" and install samba, samba-client, kdebase3-samba if using KDE and nautilus-share if using Gnome.
  • How to mount and bind drives:
mount -t vfat -o users,exec,sync,uid=todd,gid=users
sudo mount --bind /media/win120/MP3/ /media/gnump3d/mp3/
sudo mount --bind /media/win180/Video3 /media/gnump3d/video3/
sudo mount --bind /home/snakeskin/.aMule/Incoming /media/gnump3d/incoming/
sudo mount -t smbfs -o username=zzzzzzzzzz,password=xxxxxx //gv_tv/Video /media/gnump3d/video1
sudo mount -t smbfs -o username=zzzzzzzzzz,password=xxxxxx //gv_tv/"Videos 2" /media/gnump3d/video2
sudo mount -t smbfs -o username=zzzzzzzzzz,password=xxxxxx //gv_tv/"External Video" /media/gnump3d/videoE
  • Mount/Unmount ISO
    • To mount Image (ISO) file
sudo mkdir /media/iso
sudo modprobe loop
sudo mount file.iso /media/iso/ -t iso9660 -o loop
    • To unmount Image (ISO) file
sudo umount /media/iso/
  • NTFS
    • /etc/fstab "/dev/sdb1 /media/180Gig ntfs-3g defaults,locale=en_US.utf8 0 0"
  • CIFS
    • //Share/Name /Share/Name cifs username=user,password=pass,iocharset=utf8,file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777 0 0
      • //GV_TV/Video
      • //GV_TV/Videos\0402 (Video 2)
      • //GV_TV/External Video
      • //GV_TV/Incoming
      • \\DOWNLOAD\mp3
      • \\DOWNLOAD\Video3
      • \\DOWNLOAD\xxx
      • \\DOWNLOAD\data
      • \\DOWNLOAD\Old Incoming

Mount and Unmount ISO,MDF,NRG Images Using AcetoneISO (GUI Tool)

sudo apt-get install kommander p7zip

Install AcetoneISO in Ubuntu

sudo dpkg -i acetoneiso2_2.0.1_x86.deb
  • This will complete the installation

to build from source, you need these dependancys

fuseiso fuse-utils libqt4-gui genisoimage cdrdao p7zip-full gnupg-agent gnupg2 pinentry-qt mencoder

The build-essential package will bring in the essential tools for building stuff...
